Beach volleyball players in Seattle have a great opportunity to learn one-on-one from one of the best beach volleyball athletes of all time.

An exclusive beach clinic again this year with Olympian and former AVP Pro Stein Metzger, here on Alki Beach in Seattle. August 7th & 8th (Monday & Tuesday) 2012.

Stein’s volleyball credentials precede him as one of the great athletes of the sport excelling at indoor, as well as the beach:

The beach camp is open to all skill levels (Junior through Adult) and will cover everything from the fundamentals of ball control through to more advanced techniques. During the first day of the camp experience levels will be assessed and individuals grouped at similar experience levels so all participants get the maximum benefit from the training.

The camps will also discuss the differences in techniques between indoor and outdoor beach volleyball, to help indoor players transition to the beach. Advanced beach techniques will also be taught. You will be interacting directly with Stein on the court and running through drills and techniques first hand. Beach volleyball is one of the best ways to get in shape and elevate your game all around.

$270 for two days -10 hours of camp time over 2 days.

Space is limited. Participants are admitted on a first register basis. Camp fills up fast. (Walk-up registration is only available if space permits).

Clinic will run rain or shine.

Water and other beverages will be provided to campers, campers should bring their own lunch.

More about Stein:

Born in Hawaii, AVP icon Stein Metzger received the ultimate honor bestowed upon a former UCLA Bruin: induction into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. During his career, the Bruins captured three NCAA titles (1993, 1995 and 1996) with Metzger being named NCAA All-Tournament twice. Metzger was also named American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American in 1995 and 1996 and National Co-Player of the Year in 1996.

During his beach volleyball career, he captured 18 titles (16 domestic, 2 international) and won bronze at the 2001 Goodwill Games and silver at the 2003 FIVB World Championships. Metzger also competed in the 2004 Olympics and finished fifth with partner Dax Holdren, adding to the resume of one of the best volleyball players and UCLA athletes ever–with Hall of Fame credentials to prove it.

The USA Beach Junior Tour (Western Open @ Alki beach June 10th) is [...]]]> AVA will be hosting the US Open Juniors Western Open this year on July 10th at Alki beach in Seattle. Leading up to the Western Open will be a series of Junior events at Alki beach.

The USA Beach Junior Tour (Western Open @ Alki beach June 10th) is open to all two person teams. Teams are same gender. Tournaments are one day, with pool play followed by playoffs and awards. The tournaments are self administrated similar to junior golf and tennis, where players coach and officiate their own games. This format presents athletes the opportunity to play for the true love of the game, without interference from adults!

Online registration is the best method for securing a place for your team to play in one of our events. Only a limited amount of team slots are typically available for walk up players, after we close the online system. Open slots, if any, are awarded on a first come first serve basis the morning of the event.

NEW FOR 2011 –
We are asking players to register as a team. This can be accomplished in one of two methods on our registration site:

1. You can register both players in one online session by creating your team in one session. For this method you will pay for both teammates and you can settle up the entry fee offline with your partner. To streamline your entry, please collect your partner’s personal information: Name, Birth Date, USAV#, Parent’s Contact info so you have it ready online.
2. You can also register create a team and register the primary player. The system will ask you to create a team name, and password. You must then invite the parent/partner to join your team. Your partner will then use your team name and password to join the team thereby linking your separate registrations in the database as one unique team.
3. Also new for 2011 – You must supply your USAV member number as part of the registration process. If you do not have a number you can visit the site below and obtain your existing number or to purchase a membership: USA Volleyball Membership
4. Cost is $30 per player plus convenience fee.
